LIGHT UP JEWEL IN CITY'S CROWN
This is the heading of a letter in 'Have Your Say'. see the Evening Post dated 1st June. It reads " As a first time visitor to Swansea I was pleased by our experiences during our stay. You have a really great city with a lot to offer.
But what a let down your seafront walk is. If it were anywhere else I am sure much more could be made if it.
This surely is the jewel in Swansea's crown and would make a great promenade for an evening walk if only it were lit up a little. I would suggest the council tackles this as an issue of high importance.
Man made attractions are all very well and course, have a purpose. But a simple walk under the stars with the odd lamp placed along the front to help people along their way would do wonders as well.
We walked a little along the seafront at West Cross as the tide was coming in and the moon was out. It was magical.
Had some lights been available to see by as well, we would have made it even further and really taken advantage of a naturally beautiful spot.
Yes, there would be expenditure involved and we know the problems attached to that these days, but in terms of offering something rather special not only to visitors but to locals as well. I feel sure it would be money well spent.
Signed by Hazel Hughes, Meopham, Kent"
Thanks Hazel for your comments. This has been suggested many times before. Who knows your letter may be the catalyst to get this project on the planning list!
